Definition: What is "altophobia"?
Altophobia, or acrophobia, is a person's fear of heights. This fear can be very dangerous especially to those who are exploring high elevations; they may suddenly experience panic attack while going higher above the ground causing their heart to palpitate & lead to serious complications.
Symptoms & Signs
People who experience altophobia usually suffer from spinning sensations or vertigo, as they climb to higher places.
Treatment: How to Treat "altophobia"?
There is currently no treatment for altophobia.
Altophobia can be brought about by past traumatic experiences involving heights. Anxiety disorders can also aggravate this fear.
Diagnosis is done by examining the symptoms suffered by patients exposed to heights.
